burning. 46 to 52 inland and the spread around the bay is 48 to 51 and the coast is 46 to 49. leyla gulen? >> we have a sig-alert in effect in oakland, northbound 880, with video shots from northbound 880 at 5 the avenue where a big rig hit the yellow barrels that hold the sand to block off lanes during construction. it looks like it is a mess. the sig-alert is in we if equity for the next hour and a half. we will have 5th avenue blocked off until that time. we still have delays, though, because of the off-ramp shut down. you can take oak street instead and hopefully it will be cleaned up but they mopping things up. drive time traffic across the richmond and san rafael bridge is six miles per hours and across the dumbarton you are

looking at 11 minutes there is a high wound advisory along benicia bridge this morning and black ice is reported. a lock outside, the bay bridge plaza shows traffic smooth from the maze into san francisco. kristen and eric? >> if you are flying today you will want to call ahead. thousands of flights across the country were canceled over the weekend because of bad weather which is expected to continue today. our reporter is at sfo with what matt is see asking not seeing this morning. matt? >> yes, if you are headed to dallas or someone your love is headed here or from dallas, check the flights because many of the flights are canceled. it is either oned that nine flights from dallas to the bay area airport, san francisco and san jose, are canceled today. dallas-based american airlines was trying to get san francisco passengers booked this morning on to other flights, with eight flights to dallas from the bay area are canceled a man was

delayed on friday trying to get here to watch the 49ers game and was surprised dallas is still seeing delays. >> i'm surprised four days later they still have canceled flights. it must be really bad to be canceled. an ice storm stranded thousands in dallas over the past several days. more than 1,300 flights are canceled. airports in philadelphia, chicago, and washington, dc, all hard hit bit snowy and icy conditions. check with the airline to make sure the flight is not can selled. it could take several days for the back leg to make its way through the system so people can get from the bay area to dallas and from dallas to anywhere else in the nation. >> in yonkers, traffic was a mess on the bronx river parkway as of this pileup with 20 vehicles. cars were on top of each other and dozen were taken to the

our reporter has the story on those who filled emergency shelter in nap apartment. >> the most vulnerable are seeking shelter at the fair grounds. there is usually plenty of room but it is at full capacity with each of the 55 beds taken. scott is sleeping in one of them. >> it is a lot better than the alternatives. napa is well aware of the danger and shelter personnel say word has spread over the four homeless people who died because of the cold. i'm glad we have this place. they are very appreciative. ought shelter choses at 8:00 a.m. and re-opens at 5:00 p.m. in napa for abc7 news. >> a possible witness is helping in the search for a bay area family missing after the plane

crashed in idaho. dale smith and his family headed from oregon to montana a week ago on sunday when he reported engine trouble. storms hampered the search. a man heard the plane bank and drop and authorities say he is helping narrow the area where searchers will continue looking for the plane. >> on the peninsula, police are looking for the gunman who shot a 15-year-old girl inside her home in a drive-by shooting. the teen was in her house when a bullet hit her in the hand at 7:30 last night. she suffered minor injuries. police are looking for two gunman and four day sedan that fired into the home. two cars and another home nearby were hit. if you have information call police. >> a california law on d.n.a. collection face as major test before a federal appeals court? san francisco. the 2004 voter approved law requires d.n.a. samples be taken

airlines and us airways and here is the bloomberg business report. jane? >> it is merger monday in the air and today is the day that american airlines and us airways merge. it could mean the combined airline will do better than other merged airlines. the new american airlines groups started trading today. speaking of trading, futures are very quiet, just flat. google is deeper into the tv business, developing a tv set-top box and could launch it first half of next year. the company says the box could have a camera that allows users to participate in google hangout video chats from the couple. microsoft has 12 days of deals for turkeys, to boston the traffic to the stores and pop-up shops.

warm ever so slowly. here is the seven-day forecast, freezing cold again tonight, tomorrow's temperatures are in the low-to-mid 50's and mid-to-upper 50's on wednesday and hold in the mid-to-upper 50's for thursday and friday because of increasing clouds as the system passes to the north, and saturday and sunday, we may see 60's back in the forecast. it looks dry all seven days. leyla gulen? >> if you are taking the coffee on the roads, be careful on highway 24, eastbound and westbound, keep both hands on the wheel. save the coffee for when you are beyond highway 24 because of the black ice. it is very slick. in san jose, we still have this incident a crash involving a car that went off a highway and into a ditch or a pond. the driver is out. the fire department is using

live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> hope you had a great week on monday at 5:30. >> first up, a look at the forecast and it is cold identity there. you have heard that before? >> it seems this is a longer stretch of cold temperatures and sub-freezing temperatures. >> bart from the east bay is 32 in dublin and 35 in walnut creek with a breeze keeping the temperatures up. same in concord at 34 and freezing in lafayette and oakland is 31. who are 30 in hayward, san leandro is 34. san francisco right new is 37 degrees. you can see it is a clear start to the morning. now, we will talk temperatures under total sunshine, below average again. 46 to 52 inland, and 46 to 51,

>> napa firefighters are looking into the cause of a kitchen fire that damaged a home last night. the photos were posted. no one was home when the house caught fire at 9:00 last night. the flames started in the kitchen and spread quickly, with some homes threatened for a short time. the fire crews stepped the flames from spreading. >> man suspected killing another man over a play station 4 is due back in court today. the san francisco police believe that the 21-year-old ronnie collins shot the the >> judge could determine if the school shooter is mentally fit to stand trial. the man was evacuated in june and by that time the judge said he was not competent.

the 43-year-old was committed to napa state hospital in january. he is accused of murdering seven people at the university in oakland in april of last year. >> the sonoma county sheriff who shot and killed a 13-year-old santa rosa boy is expected to return to work this week. according to the santa rosa press democrat, the 48-year-old deputy will be assigned deck duty until the district attorney were determines whether to file criminal charges. erick gelhaus said he shot andy lopez because he thought the teen was pointing a real weapon at him that turned out to be a pb gun. >> president obama is open way to south africa to pay tribute to nelson mandela. the president and the first lady boarded air force one 20 minutes ago. they will be attending tomorrow's national memorial service along with former presidents jimmy carter, bill clinton, and george w. bush. it will be held at the stadium where man tell made the final
